The incident happened in Levittown at around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Nassau County Police said officers responding to a 911 call about an assault with a weapon found blood on the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom floors. Nobody was inside the home.
Officers then responded to a hospital and were informed that a 29-year-old man had arrived with a laceration to his arm.
The victim told investigators that he had an argument with his girlfriend about ending their relationship. The confrontation culminated with the woman, 29-year-old Marienny Yanez, confronting the man with a knife in each hand, police said.
As Yanez lunged at the victim with the knife in her right hand, the man raised his right arm to block the attack and he suffered a laceration to his forearm, according to police.
Yanez then dropped the knives and accompanied the victim to the hospital, police said. She was arrested without incident on suspicion of assault, criminal mischief, and criminal possession of a weapon.
